Which one of these processes Mitosis, Meiosis I or Meiosis II produces daughter cells that are diploid?
Mitosis produces daughter cells that are diploid. The remaining two process are the part of Meiosis cell division. As this division takes place in reproductive organs so the result daughter cells(which are 4 in number)should have half the number of chromosomes as compared to parent cell. Therefore the daughter cells are haploid(n).But Mitosis takes place in all somatic cells or whole body so the daughter cell should have same number of chromosomes as in parent cell.i,e. two diploid(2n) cells are produce.
