Hole in the ozone ? pleas help?

can anyone tel me if the hole in the ozone was there before humans discovered it ? how do we know that it wasn't there from the Begin ? my science teacher seas that the worming of the earth led to humans finding it > but there might be a Other reason for that as wel right? i wold rely wont to impress her. ty
